LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Lexington police say a truck running a red light caused a crash that damaged a Lexington barbershop Friday morning.

It happened around 6:15 a.m. Officers say a woman in a pickup truck ran a light on West Third Street and hit another car, pushing it into Fades Barbershop’s front window.

The woman was not hurt. The man in the other car was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Rodney Washington has owned the business at that same location for 17 years.

He told us the same kind of accident has happened there six times. Every few years, he says a crash will happen at the intersection of Third and Upper, and, inevitably, at least one of the vehicles will get pushed into his barber shop.

Washington says it’s upsetting that this keeps happening, but it could have been much worse. He says he’s thankful that he hasn’t been inside, cutting hair, when any of these crashes have happened.

He says he’s also grateful none of his customers have ever been outside waiting on him when something like this happens.

Police say there is obvious damage to the outside of the building. Police have not said if any charges will come from the crash.

Richardson said he’s called in a repair crew to board up the damage for now. He says he’ll be filing an insurance claim to help cover the damages.
