New lights and experiences have been announced by Signify, including the Philips Hue Lightguide bulbs. The gadgets have an inner tube which can provide light in any colour, and are available in three shapes, large globe, ellipse and triangular. Each bulb has a highly reflective finish to help them shine even brighter.

A fabric-wrapped pendant cord and metal holder have been designed to enhance the new product, available in black or white. However, you can also use the bulbs in your existing lamps and light shades. The bulbs will start from US$74.99, with the cord and holder costing US$49.99. Both products are expected to launch in Q4 in North American and European markets. Another new product is the Philips Hue Filament candle bulb, a vintage-style product. The gadget produces white light, with “thousands of shades” to choose from spanning a wide color temperature, and the light is dimmable.

A new experience available in the Philips Hue app is the Mimic presence automation. Designed to protect your house from intruders when you are away, the intelligent setting will switch your lights on and off in a pattern which suggests the house is occupied. The feature is set to launch early this month. Plus, you can now match your lighting with your music using a Philips Hue + SmartThings music sync tool. Available for Galaxy phones and tablets via the SmartThings app, the feature is due to launch later this year with many compatible streaming services.
