all things HomeKit and connected tech in one site.

Eve Systems presented some innovations at the IFA in Berlin today. While the focus is clearly on the new smart home standard – Matter, the Munich-based company also has a new device at to start the proceedings, with the new Eve Shutter Switch. In addition, the Eve Outdoor Cam will be available in a white edition from December.

This year the time has finally come and the new smart home standard  Matter  should start to make its presence known. Eve Systems has been preparing its own devices for this launch for a long time and has now also equipped most Bluetooth devices with Thread. At the IFA, Eve Systems is showing the control of its own products via different platforms for the first time, not just Apple HomeKit. While the devices could previously be controlled exclusively via HomeKit, thanks to Matter, control via Amazon Alexa, Google Home and other smart home platforms will also be possible in the future.

With the new Eve Shutter Switch, Eve Systems will be offering roller shutter control for existing motors from December. The existing wall switch is simply replaced with the intelligent model from Eve Systems. The device can then also be integrated into Apple HomeKit via Bluetooth or Thread.  The additional options via the manufacturer’s own app are particularly interesting.  During setup, the iPhone is placed on the window frame to determine the location and orientation of the window.  These parameters then enable the roller shutters to be controlled depending on the dynamic position of the sun.

Eve Outdoor Cam White Edition

If the previously available Eve Outdoor Cam in black does not fit your colour concept, Eve Systems will offer you an alternative from December. The pure HomeKit Secure Video camera should then also be available in white. Technically, however, the White Edition remains unchanged. The dimmable floodlight can also be controlled via HomeKit in the future, the field of view is still 157° and thanks to the support of HomeKit Secure Video the camera recognizes people, animals, vehicles and packages.

Eve Light Switch for North America with Thread

The new model of Eve Light Switch for North America will not only be expanded to include Thread but also provide support for rooms with switch combinations. Support for toggle switches, for example, means that virtually any installation can now be turned into a smart one without having to replace a light fixture or bulb. The light can be switched on and off via app or Siri, as well as autonomously automated thanks to iPhone – and Internet-independent schedules. Via HomeKit scenes, it can be switched in conjunction with other devices. Like other permanently powered Thread nodes, Eve Light Switch can forward data packets from other Thread devices.
